Campgrounds Near Folkston, Georgia
Visitors to the Folkston, Georgia, area have numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation in the nearby Okefenokee Swamp. Kayaking, canoeing, swamp-boating, fishing, birdwatching, and wildlife observation are all possible in the Okefenokee. The Okefenkoee Swamp is now a National Wildlife Refuge and was made famous by Walt Kelly's Pogo Possum. There are ample options for campgrounds around the Okefenokee and Folkston region.

Okefenokee Swamp Camping

Okefenokee Swamp Camping offers visitors sites for RVs and tents. The campground is on 14 acres of land and abuts the famed Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. RV sites have 30-amp electric, water and sewer hookups. Tent sites have access to fresh water for drinking and cooking, and all guests may use the bathrooms and showers. The Swamp Camping allows charcoal grilling or fires by permit only, which are issued based on weather conditions and ecological circumstances at the owner's discretion. Pets must be leashed and under control. Birders can enjoy being at the swamp as there are many species of unique and rare species to add to the life-list.

Country Oaks Campground

Guests staying at the Country Oaks may get lucky and catch site of osprey and great blue heron as they fish the waters of the region. Good Sam discounts are offered to club members. Hookups at RV sites include 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electric, water, sewer, and there are options for cable TV. There is free Wi-Fi at the campgrounds. Bathrooms and showers as well as fresh drinking water are available to guests. Leashed pets are allowed. Hikers can have a go at the Longleaf Pine Interpretive Trail in the Oefenokee, just a few minutes away.

Canoe Country Outpost

Just as its name suggests, Canoe Country Outpost offers visitors opportunities for canoeing, kayak-touring, and boating. There are sites for RVs and tents at Canoe Country. RV sites have full hookups, which include 30- or 50-amp electric, water and sewer. Guests may use the showers and bathrooms as well as the guest room and boat launches. There is an outfitter at the Canoe Country Outpost, and guests can book guided hiking or fishing trips. Canoe and boat rentals are available. Pets are allowed if leashed.
