Campgrounds in Southern California on the Carlsbad Coast

Campgrounds in Southern California on the Carlsbad Coast
The Carlsbad area of southern California is filled with sun-drenched beaches and ocean surf. Many of the RV parks in the area are right off the beach, making them high-demand locations for surfers, swimmers, snorkelers, scuba divers or beach combers. Visitors should keep in mind that California does not allow glass bottles or containers on state beaches.

South Carlsbad State Beach

South Carlsbad State Beach has sites for RVs and tents. Because of the beach's popular in the summer, reservations (reserveamerica.com) are highly recommended. Token-operated showers and bathrooms are on-site. Pets are allowed, but not on the beach, and they must be leashed at all times. There is Wi-Fi at the beach campground. Campers will be able to fish, snorkel, surf, scuba-dive, and kayak right from the campground.

San Elijo State Beach

Snorkelers and Scuba divers will appreciate the reef just offshore at San Elijo State Beach. There are sites for RVs up to 35 feet in length and tents. The grounds have showers and bathrooms, and fresh-water spigots for drinking. There is a dump station on the grounds for RV camper use. Pets are allowed at the campsites on leashes but not allowed on the beach. Surfing, fishing, swimming and kayaking are available from the beach area.
