RV Parks Near Crater Lake, OR
Crater Lake is in Crater Lake National Park, on the crest of the Cascade Mountain range in southern Oregon. It is 100 miles east of the Pacific Ocean and lies inside a caldera, or volcanic basin, created when the 12,000-foot Mount Mazama collapsed 7,700 years ago following a large eruption. The area averages over 533 inches of snow each year; this supplies the lake with water, as there are no inlets or outlets. At 1,943 feet deep, it is the seventh-deepest lake in the world and the deepest in the United States. Hiking, biking, backcountry camping, wildlife viewing, boating tours, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are popular activities for visitors to the park. When traveling to Crater Lake in an RV, you will find several parks in the area.
