California's capitol city Sacramento is located in what is referred to as the Central Valley and is almost halfway between Lake Tahoe/Reno and San Francisco. Outdoor opportunities in the area include hiking the trails at Auburn State Recreation area or walking the memorials at the Capitol Park Loop Trail in the city. Visitors can take side trips to Tahoe and ski, mountain bike or kayak on the lake. Urban attractions in Sacramento include the NBA's Kings and touring the capitol building. There are many options for RV parks in the Sacramento area.

Sacramento Shade RV Park

With convenient access to I-5, I-80 CA-50 and the Sacramento River, the Sacramento Shade RV Park provides a good location to base camp for explorations of the region. The park offers sites with 30- or 50-amp electric, water, sewer, cable TV and Wi-Fi. RVs of most sizes can be handled with either pull-through or back-in sites. Pets are welcome if leashed. There is a laundromat, shower room, private toilets, swimming pool and a small guest house on the premises. The Sacramento River runs near the park where fishing and boating opportunities can be found.

Stillman RV Park

The Stillman RV Park offers visitors a downtown location from which to see and explore the city. The park has sites for large and small RVs. Hookups include water, electric (30- or 50-amp), sewer and options for cable TV. There is Wi-Fi on the grounds for guest use. Pets are allowed but should be leashed. Facilities include showers, private bathrooms, laundry, clubhouse with kitchen, and barbecue areas. The nearby American and Sacramento Rivers have fishing, swimming and kayaking.

Capitol West RV and Mobile Home Park

The Capitol West provides visitors with an RV park that has manicured and groomed lawns, shade providing trees and a convenient location in West Sacramento. Sites have 20-, 30-, or 50-amp electric, water, sewer and Wi-Fi. Cable TV hookups are available. The grounds have showers, toilets, picnic tables, cookout grills, laundry, playground, and mailboxes for those staying for extended periods of time. Pets are allowed but should remain leashed. Guests can get to the Jedediah Smith Bike Trail within 30 minutes from the park for mountain biking opportunities.
