Campgrounds Near Leelanau Peninsula, Michigan
The Leelanau Peninsula is located in the northwest corner of Michigan's lower peninsula and extends into Lake Michigan some 30 miles. It is home to many unique small towns where visitors will find wineries, fruit stand and art galleries. The area is also very popular for camping due to the wealth of outdoor activities in the area and proximity to fishing in the Great Lakes.

Leelanau State Park

Leelanau State Park is located on the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula and encompasses of 1,300 acres of dunes and forests. There is a rustic campground in the park that has 15 camp sites and two mini cabins for rent. The sites are in a forested section of the park and spaced apart for privacy. There are vault toilets and water spigots as well a camper water filling station. Park amenities include a lighthouse that guests can tour as well a beach area for sunbathing and swimming. Hiking trails are found throughout the interior and can also be used for bikes.

Wild Cherry Resort

Wild Cherry Resort is located in the middle of the Leelanau Peninsula and offers RV and tent sites. The RV sites are made of gravel with a concrete patio and have full hook-ups with 50-amp service, cable TV and wireless Internet. Tent sites feature a picnic table, fire ring and either a gas or charcoal grill with bathrooms nearby.

Guests can enjoy 30 acres of woods that have hiking trails and a stocked pond for fishing. There are also two par-3 golf holes and a driving range. Wild Cherry Resort is centrally located near many of the Peninsula's amenities and is within 10 miles of 14 wineries.

Leelanau Pines

Leelanau Pines campground is located in the lower portion of the Leelanau Peninsula directly on Lake Leelanau. They offer 181 modern camp sites that are set in a wooded landscape just a few minute walks to the lakefront. Sites include electric hook-up, picnic table and fire ring; water spigots are near most sites.

Facility amenities include wireless Internet, laundry room and camp store as well as game room and playground. There are nature trails for guests to hike and a swimming beach. Guests can also launch and dock their boats on Lake Leelanau, which is considered a very good fishing lake.
