Located 90 minutes from Albuquerque is the small town of Vaughn, N.M., which was originally established as a railroad town. The warm year-round temperatures and dry air make it a popular destination for travelers throughout the year. Golf, fishing, hiking and nature trails are among the nearby outdoor activities.

Red Canyon Campground

The Red Canyon Campground and Red Cloud Campground are less than an hour from Vaughn. While the Red Cloud Campground is only for tent campers, the Red Canyon Campground offers RV sites up to 22 feet. Red Canyon offers bathrooms and horseback riding, from April to October, as of January 2010.

Ramblin' Rose RV Park

The park is less than 40 minutes from Vaughn. All sites have full hookups with water and electric. The RV park has a few 50-amp spots available, though most are 30-amp. All sites also come with free cable TV hookups. The park will arrange horseback riding for an additional fee.

Santa Rosa Campground

Full hookup sites with water and electric are available at the Santa Rosa Campground, which is 40 minutes from Vaughn. The park has its own barbecue-style restaurant. The campground has Wi-Fi, hot showers and restrooms.

El Rancho Campground

The El Rancho is the only campground within the city limits. It has 12 sites available. Half the sites are back-in and the other half are pull-thru. The park offers hot showers and restrooms. A convenience store and grocery store are less than a five-minute walk from the park, and golf and hiking are in the area.
