McGregor, Minnesota, is known for its beautiful landscapes, scenic parks and fishing lakes. Campers can visit the historic trails of the Savanna Portage State Park or see the impressive array of wildlife at the 18,000-acre Rice Lake National Refuge. Savanna Portage State Park has accommodations for 61 RV sites with four pull-through sites and 18 electric sites. There is a 55-foot RV length limit. Some sites overlook the Savanna Lake. A camper cabin is available year-round that sleeps up to five people. The cabin is rustic and does not have water and electricity, but there are shower and bathroom facilities available in the campground. The camp also has boat landing, fire rings and picnic tables. With its 15,818 acres of hills and lakes, visitors can explore numerous hiking trails or fish at Loon Lake. Check out the dirt trails for mountain biking and roads for bicycling. During winter, 14 miles of trails are designated for cross-country skiing. Other activities include snowmobiling and swimming.

About 12 miles away is the Lake Superior Zoological Gardens.
