The Pacific Northwest was made for the RV traveler, and Salem is a particularly good spot for a trip into western Oregon. There, you can make the 12-mile paddle trip from Salem to Wheatland Ferry on the Willamette River. The Minto-Brown Island Park Loop offers 5.8 miles of hiking trail filled with a number of interesting bird species. Within just a few miles of Salem are a number of other hiking trails plus lakes and rivers for fishing. The area also offers a variety of campgrounds.

The Hee Hee Illahee RV Resort features 30 and 50 amp power hookups, water, cable and garbage service. Free wireless Internet service is available throughout the park. The outdoor swimming pool is open seasonally during the warm months, but there is an indoor Jacuzzi waiting to soothe those sore muscles all year. The barbecue grill is located inside a heated gazebo and the park also features a fitness center and library. Just a couple of miles away are the 8 miles of trails found inside Willamette Mission State Park.

Premier RV Resort

Premier RV Resort features long pull-through paved sites with 50 amp electrical hookups. Other amenities include satellite television, free wireless Internet service, a laundromat and even a concierge. The resort features a special wine tasting event and offers guests a gift shop. The park itself hosts a swimming pool and just across the street is Holman State Park, where you can drop your line and reel in a fish or take to the water in a boat. Holman is also home to 12 miles of trails for hiking and biking. Simulated recreational activity can be enjoyed at the Enchanted Forest theme park less than 10 miles away.

Salem Campground and RVs

Salem Campground and RVs offers 195 total sites with 90 shady pull-through slots. One hundred of the sites accommodate double slideouts. Hookups include 20, 30, and 50 amp electricity as well as TV. The resort features a new laundry room and store. Activities in the cool waters of the Pacific Ocean are just an hour's drive away. A little bit further away is Siuslaw National Forest, where you can choose from 230 miles of trails. Bring your bike or your best hiking boots to take advantage of the trails beneath the tall Douglas firs and cedars. You can also hike trails to take you over sand dunes. The forest provides ample opportunities for fishing and swimming as well.
