Nelson, British Columbia is a mid-size community in the Selkirk Mountains in Canaa. The western arm of Lake Kootenay abuts the city and outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy kayak-touring the lake, skiing the mountains and hiking or mountain-biking the many trails in the area. Nelson has earned the nickname "The Queen City" for all of its heritage buildings from the silver rush during the 1800s. RV travelers to the Nelson region have several options for RV parks.

Nelson City Campground

The Nelson City Campground is in the heart of Nelson and offers guests sites with hookups and a range of services. The campground is open from May 1 to September 30. Hookups have 30-amp electric, water and sewer. Pets are allowed but should be leashed. Hot showers and private toilets are on the grounds for guest use. There is a laundromat nearby, and guests can access downtown Nelson in a short walk. Reservations are recommended.

Castlegar RV Park and Campground

The Castlegar Park and Campground is within a few minutes of downtown Nelson and provides guests with a range of site options and hookups. There are sites with either 15- or 30-amp electric, sewer and water. The sites can handle most size RVs and those with slide-outs. The grounds have a shower facility, private toilets, coin operated laundry, WiFi, fire rings, picnic tables and barbeque grills. Pets are allowed. AAA and CAA discounts are offered to members. The Castlegar is open seasonally, weather depending, between April and October.

Kokanee Chalets and RV Park

The Kokanee Chalets and RV Park is minutes from Nelson and offers a range of amenities to the traveling RV guest. There is 15- or 30-amp electric available, as well as water, a sewer and level sites. There are sites for most size RVs, and those with slide-outs. There are two washroom and shower facilities on the grounds as well as a coin operated laundry, hot tub, badminton courts, horseshoe pit, bocce court and barbecue area. Pets are allowed but should be on leashes.
