Uvita, Costa Rica Area Resorts

Uvita, Costa Rica Area Resorts
Uvita lies on the southwest coast of Costa Rica along an area known as the Costa Ballena (Whale Coast). The region gets its name from the whales that make yearly stops here to mate and calve and is, thus, an ideal place to see not only whales, but also bottle-nosed dolphins. But aside from whales, dolphins and a host of other aquatic creatures that call the Pacific home and can be seen in Uvita's famous Marino Ballena National Marine Park, this town also sits nestled in a lush Costa Rican rainforest and presents opportunities for hikes, bird watching and more. Whether you're interested in diving, walking, watching, fishing or just relaxing, Uvita is a destination full of activities, and has plenty of resort options from which you can choose.

Hotel Resort & Spa Cristal Ballena

This four-star resort and spa is located just 4 miles (7 km) south of Uvita and sits on a 12-hectare (30-acre) tropical garden between the Pacific Ocean and the rainforest-covered mountains at its back. Guests can enjoy both blue ocean views and lush green surroundings from any one of the 16 junior suites, two master suites, one family suite or two Adventure Lodges.

The resort boasts a beautiful 1,300-square-foot swimming pool and poolside bar, the Pura Vida restaurant, the Spa Cristal, function rooms and other event spaces for weddings and other gatherings, Internet connections, a souvenir shop, a billiard table and more. It is also within walking distance of the Marino Ballena Marine National Park and is close to many other area attractions.
