Palm and Pines Mobile Homes and RV Park is an age 55-plus community a mile from the Gulf of Mexico beaches. There are full-time tenants and sites for visitors. The park has 30- or 50-amp full hookups and laundry facilities.

Oscar Scherer State Park

Oscar Scherer State Park is about 9 miles north of Nokomis in Osprey. It features a scrubby flatwoods terrain that makes it one of the best places to see scrub-jays, a threatened species found only in Florida, and has over 15 miles of trails for hiking, biking and wildlife viewing. South Creek is popular for canoeing, kayaking, and freshwater and saltwater fishing. Lake Osprey also allows fishing and swimming. The campground has over 100 sites with 30- or 50-amp full hookups and features restrooms with showers, a playground, dump station, recycle bins and allows pets. Canoe and kayak rentals and tent sites are available.
