While venturing out from your RV park destination you can enjoy the 5.1-mile Buffalo Bayou Park Hike and Bike Trail that provides an up-close, personal view of the city. Houston Leisure RV Resort is a suburban park that is just 20 miles to the east of downtown Houston. This resort offers 205 RV-only sites that do not offer much shade although a few have a tree or two. On-site recreation includes a fenced pool, basketball court, tennis court and fitness center. In addition to the hiking trails around Houston take time to visit the Space Center and Downtown Aquarium. Pets are allowed at the Houston Leisure RV Resort as long as they are kept on at least a six-foot leash.

Lakeview Resort

Lakeview Resort is a choice Houston RV park for those who feel that a vacation is incomplete without some serious time spent fishing. A big lake is available for anglers, but swimmers will prefer to head for the pool. The resort also includes an indoor/outdoor whirlpool. Areas are available for grilling steaks or hot dogs and having a picnic. The Lakeview Resort is convenient to the Texas Medical Center lodging and is also close to the Convention Center. Bring your laptop and use the free wireless Internet service to check out how close you are to Houston's biking and hiking trails or just enjoy the on-site exercise room. Staying here also means it is just a 45-minute drive before you are fishing, swimming or surfing on Galveston's beaches.

Lone Star Lakes RV Park

About 15 miles outside the northernmost suburbs of Houston is the Lone Star Lakes RV Park. If you have an 80-foot long rig that other parks cannot handle, consider this Houston area campground. Lone Star also is a fulfilling place for those who enjoy the great outdoors as it has its own private fishing lake and several nature trails around the lake. Kids can enjoy the playground and the whole family can pile into the recreation room to challenge each other to a game of ping-pong, air hockey or pool.
