Florida has an international reputation for beaches and theme parks, but those looking for something off the path of the typical tourist will find Sebring in south central Florida a welcome departure from the expected. Highlands Hammock State Park

Hiking along elevated boardwalks through forests of cypress trees is just one of the draws for visitors to Highlands Hammock State Park. In addition to the miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails, the park offers a Saturday evening campfire circle and guided tours of areas within the park. Part of the Florida Great Birding Trail, birders will appreciate the number of wading birds as well as wild turkeys, ospreys, and variety of woodpeckers that can be found within the park. Water and electric hook-ups for are available for RV camping as well as pop-up and tent camping.

Lake Letta RV Park

Situated among the many lakes that dot the landscape between the towns of Avon Park and Sebring, the cozy community of Lake Letta RV Park north of Sebring offers full hook-up sites for visitors looking for a refuge for the day, week, month or even year. The small atmosphere and tendency for guests to take up longer residency allows people to become well-acquainted with their neighbors. On-site amenities include laundry facilities, shuffleboard courts and horseshoe pits.

Leisure Acres

The 55 and older RV and mobile home community of Leisure Acres offers a peaceful environment for visitors looking for short-term residence, winter quarters or longer accommodations. Located a short drive southeast of Lake Jackson, the dominant terrain feature of the Sebring area, this resort provides full hook-up RV sites with such amenities as a library, heated pool, wireless Internet, shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits and RV storage. Social activities at the park include pool aerobics, bingo, dancing, exercise classes, dinners, church services, tournaments and organized outings for golf and fishing.
