Yellowstone National Park is not only the nation's oldest national park, but it is also one of the nation's largest. With 2.2 million acres of land and more than 1,100 miles of hiking trails, exploring the back country of Yellowstone can be unpredictable even for experienced hikers. Yellowstone Wildlife Cabins offers four different cabins within walking distance of Yellowstone National Park's west entrance. Nestled in the town of West Yellowstone, these one- or two-bedroom cabins are well-suited for a couple or a small family. Each includes a kitchen, wireless Internet, satellite TV and on-site laundry

The cabins differ with decor and layout, but they all share one trait of interest to any outdoor enthusiast--a location only blocks away from the trails.

Montana Buffalo Company

If you want somewhere quiet to retire to for the night, the ranch at Montana Buffalo Company might be for you. The ranch is situated in the mountains of the Cinnabar Basin about 14 miles from Yellowstone's north gate. A guest cabin sleeps eight or nine visitors.

Inside, the cabin is furnished with a propane stove, aspen wood floors and a large loft. From the wrap-around front porch, you'll be able to take in the 1,100 acres of land around the ranch. And if you're feeling extra adventurous, you can choose to hike down to Yellowstone. Hiking gear is available upon request.

All Season's Cabin

Nestled in the Beartooth and Absaroka mountain ranges, this cabin is less than two miles from the park's northeast entrance in Cooke City, Montana. And with children younger than 12 staying for free, the cabin would be a economical choice for a family vacationing in Yellowstone.

The cabin can accommodate up to eight guests and has two baths, a fully equipped kitchen, TV and local phone service. The sun room features a bar and a hot tub overlooking the mountains.

If you're looking to spend more of your time outdoors, you can try out the fire pit or the shuffleboard court located on premises. There is also a sandy beach nearby.
