Campgrounds in Indiana State Parks

Campgrounds in Indiana State Parks
Indiana has 25 state parks that its citizens and visitors from other states and countries can utilize for many types of activities. In the summer, swimming, boating, horseback riding and fishing are common at these parks, while in the winter months outdoorsmen engage in ice fishing and cross-country skiing. Some of Indiana's state parks provide campgrounds for those inclined to stay overnight. Parks with campsites include Shakamak State Park, McCormick's Creek State Park and Chain O'Lakes State Park.

Shakamak State Park

Shakamak State Park, located in southern Indiana in the town of Jasonville, has 400 acres of water on three separate man-made lakes for visitors and campers to enjoy. There is a field close to the campgrounds where you can hold activities, and approximately two-thirds of the campsites exist within a wooded area. The park contains 122 campsites with electricity and another 42 without. There is a group camp as well as a dumping station. Hiking, swimming, fishing and other pursuits are popular in the summer months.

McCormick's Creek State Park

Waterfalls and limestone formations are some of the attractions at McCormick's Creek State Park, nestled on the White River. The park is just 14 miles to the northwest of Bloomington, Indiana and features dense woodlands and a canyon with cliffs above it. Campers have the option of using one of the 189 campsites with electric supply or one of the 32 more primitive sites that have no power. There is a camp store close by and facilities to dump garbage.
