Primm, Nev., is a small town about 40 miles south of Las Vegas. Primm has casinos, but it is also a base for exploring the desert and state parks of Nevada and neighboring California. A popular attraction is Ivanpah Dry Lake, a land-sailing spot. The town also hosted the World's Strongest Man competition in 1997.

Canyon Trail RV Park

In neighboring Boulder City, about 15 to 20 miles from Primm, is the Canyon Trail RV Park. The sites offer full 30- and 50-amp hookups, pull-through sites, dump station, free Wi-Fi, cable television, laundry, picnic areas and RV or boat storage. The park is close enough to Hoover Dam, Red Rocks State Park and the Mojave National Park that guests can make several day excursions from the RV park to explore the region. Canyon Trail allows pets and makes a small area available for pets and owners to walk.

Primm Valley Resort and Casino

The Primm Valley Resort and Casino is an all-encompassing resort, casino and RV village. The RV park offers campers full hookups, free Wi-Fi, cable television, a dump station, laundry, showers and private toilets, pet-friendly areas, access to the resort's swimming pools, saunas and spas, a game room and playground for kids, three restaurants and free access to the on-site Ferris wheel. The resort is centrally located, just across the Nevada state line on I-15.

Barstow KOA

Located off Interstate 15 outside of Yermo, Calif., is the Barstow KOA RV Village. The park has pull-through sites as well as full electric hookups for 30- and 50-amp campers, Wi-Fi, television, showers, laundry and picnic area. Other activities and amenities in the area include golf, swimming pool and a whirlpool. The Barstow KOA is approximately 45 miles from Primm, allowing the visitor to explore both cities as well as the surrounding desert. Hiking abounds, and the Deep Creek Hot Springs are in nearby Hesperia, Calif.
