Polk County in central Florida occupies a stretch of wilderness known as the Green Swamp between the metropolitan areas of Orlando and Tampa. The source for the Hillsborough, Peace and Withlacoochee Rivers, the swamp also recharges the aquifer providing water for much of Central Florida. The Polk County cities of Lakeland, Winter Haven, Bartow and Lake Wales provide the conveniences of major metropolitan areas.

Lake Kissimmee State Park

Lying between Lake Kissimmee, Tiger Lake and Lake Rosalie, Lake Kissimmee State Park provides guests with an opportunity to explore natural Florida. Miles of hiking trails are eclipsed only by the boating and fishing opportunities on the lakes. On weekends between fall and spring, a cow camp is held to provide visitors with a glimpse into the life of early settlers in Central Florida. Full hookup sites provide access to park features, including a boat ramp, equestrian trails and a children's playground. Pets on a leash are permitted.

Lakeshore Palms Travel Park

Near Cypress Gardens Adventure Park and Bok Tower Gardens, this small park provides full hookup sites on the banks of a private lake. Guests of Lakeshore Palms Travel Park have amenities such as canoe rentals, boat ramp, picnic area, two docks, a pool and laundry and shower facilities. Limited tent sites are also available.

Sanlan RV Park

Over 700 acres of nature along Banana Lake make up the Sanlan Recreation Area, which includes Sanlan RV Park, Sanlan Bird and Wildlife Sanctuary, and Bramble Ridge Golf Course. In addition to bird-watching, hiking and golfing, Sanlan RV Park offers full hookup pull-through sites with Wi-Fi and cable. Other amenities include three pools, laundry, recreation halls, propane, shuffleboard and bath houses.

Tiki Village Campground

Located off of Interstate 4 halfway between Orlando and Tampa, Tiki Village Campground provides a convenient base. In addition to full hookup sites, guests can have their RVs washed and detailed at the campground. Additional amenities include RV storage, Wi-Fi, laundry, propane and showers. Pets are permitted.
