Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner Route runs along California's Pacific Coast, transporting riders from San Diego north to Santa Barbara and on to San Luis Obispo. The Pacific Surfliner offers comfortable seating, a lounge cafe, and bicycle storage. Visitors can hop the train at one of two stations in Orange County and ride to any one of its many northern or southern destinations. Pacific Surfliner train fares vary based on destination.

Mackerel Flats and Goat Hill Junction Railroad

Mackerel Flats and Goat Hill Junction Railroad is a unique railroad located in Costa Mesa's Fairview Park. The Orange County Model Engineers club operates several different small scale gas and steam powered model locomotives on the 5-mile long, small gauge railroad. The 12-minute ride takes visitors through the park, over bridges and past the Costa Mesa Golf Course. Rides are free but donations are accepted.

Irvine Park Railroad

Located in Orange County's scenic foothills, Irvine Park Railroad offers fun rides through historic Irvine Regional Park. Visitors can hop on the 1/3-scale train for a family friendly ride around the park. After the ride, visitors can rent paddle boats and bikes, hike through the hillsides or stroll through the Orange County Zoo. As of December 2009, the Irvine Park Railroad runs every day from 10 a.m.--4 p.m., except major holidays.
