The Cinque Terre, or Five Lands, consists of five small towns along five miles of rocky Ligurian coast on the Italian Riviera. Its vineyards, winding paths, coastal cliffs and stunning beaches remain relatively unspoiled--due in part to the area's 1997 designation as protected national park land. Its villages--Riomaggiore, Corniglia, Manarola, Vernazza and Monterosso--offer charming villa accommodations for vacationers.
La Maddalena is a 13th-century hillside villa overlooking the bay of Monterosso. Its six bedrooms accommodate 12 travelers, making it ideal for families or groups of friends traveling together. Guests can dine in the internal courtyard, the gardens or at the large indoor dining table. The attached antique chapel can be rented for an additional fee and is perfect for destination weddings. Additional amenities include six bathrooms, living room fireplace, country kitchen, washer, Internet, parking, nearby bus service, washing machine, satellite TV and twice-weekly maid service. The minimum stay is seven days.
