With a variety of tourist options, such as Mayan ruin sites, beaches and water activities, Mexico is an attractive destination for families. Mexico offers plenty of options when it comes to resorts, but not all of them are suitable for families. A good family resort offers plenty of activities for children as well as adults. There are several options for families looking for a resort in Mexico.

El Cozumeleno Beach Resort

This resort is located in Cozumel, on the eastern side of the country and situated on the Caribbean. There are more than 250 rooms that contain balconies, satellite television and air-conditioning. A variety of activities are included in the price of the resort, including snorkeling lessons, scuba diving lessons, bicycle tours, kayaking and volleyball. Scuba diving tours, fishing tours, personal watercraft rentals and para-sailing are available at an additional cost. For families with children, there is a child's swimming pool, supervised children's activities, babysitting and an arcade. Two restaurants and a snack bar are on site. A golf course is located across the street from the resort. Rates vary, depending on season and type of room booked.

Westin Resort and Spa, Puerto Vallarta

Located on the western side of Mexico on the Pacific Ocean, the Westin Resort and Spa covers 21 acres and contains a private beach. The resort offers the Westin Kids Club for children between the ages of 4 and 12. Children are supervised in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. Available between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., the service is free for up to three hours. A full day costs $20, or a $60 up-front fee covers participation in the Kids Club throughout a stay at the resort. There also is an outdoor pool with a children's play area. There are a total of five restaurants and bars on site. The Westin Family Package includes access to the Kids Club and allows children under 12 to eat for free.

Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa

Located in Cancun on the southeastern tip of the country, this resort was named one of the top 10 Mexican resorts by Conde Nast Traveler magazine. A variety of activities are available throughout the day including snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking and several other outdoor activities. At night, there are concerts, parties, outdoor movie screenings and more. In the fall, you can participate a program in which you can hold a baby turtle before it is released into the water. The resort also offers the Explorer's Club for Kids. Included in the price of the resort, this program is for children between the ages of 3 and 12. Kids participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. Once a week, there is campout for kids on the beach.
