Attractions Near Branson, Missouri
As the self-proclaimed "live music show capital of the world," Branson, Mo., does know a thing or two about live performances. Sometimes lost in the shuffle is the long list of other attractions in and around this small Missouri town. The first thing you notice when driving into the area, no matter which direction you arrive by, is the outstanding natural beauty of the Ozark Mountains, which might bear closer resemblance to hills if you're from Colorado. But if you need to fill vacation time between morning coffee and the evening nightcap, there are excellent ways to spend your time.

Showboat Branson Belle

Jump aboard this replica of a historical paddle-wheel boat--just like the kind that used to chug up and down the Mississippi River during Mark Twain's time. Only this trip takes you around the exquisite scenery of Table Rock Lake. The Showboat Branson Belle excursion is a sightseeing cruise, comedy and music show, and three-course meal bundled into one entertainment package. Take in the view from your choice of observation decks while the big back wheel grinds away the liquid mileage. From the water is perhaps the best way to get a true sense of the rugged scenic beauty of the Ozarks. After you're done with the Belle, head for Table Rock Lake State Park and a wide variety of other water sports.

Table Rock State Park

Since 1959, this 356-acre park on the outskirts of Branson has been the place for outdoors recreational vacationers. Are you into swimming (summer only), boating, canoeing or fishing? The marina has whatever you need for the outing. Rent fishing, pontoon or ski boats, or even personal watercraft like Waverunners. Hit the on-site dive shop if you enjoy below the surface exploration. For fun on the land, camping, hiking or bicycle trails are waiting for you throughout Table Rock State Park. Other activities available are an excursion on a 48-foot catamaran or taking a leap into the sky with parasailing.

Silver Dollar City

Continuing in the Branson tradition of honoring and keeping alive knowledge from the past, Silver Dollar City is the city's number one tourist draw. The historical theme harkens back to a day when men and women made their living with crafts like glassblowing, blacksmithing, carving, silversmithing and candymaking. But that's not all. You can also expect a nice selection of amusement rides like roller coasters, steam trains, the world's largest treehouse and Marvel Cave--a total of 30 rides and attractions in all. Then there's the entertainment. Singers, dancers and musicians perform 40 live shows daily. Like hiking? You'll get plenty of it whether you want to or not as you stroll the winding, hilly paths of the property.
