Sitka, Alaska, Fishing Resorts

Sitka, Alaska, Fishing Resorts
Sitka, Alaska, is located in the southeast Alaska archipelago, more commonly known as the Alaska panhandle. Sitka is one of the best places to fish for salmon and halibut in the state and offers tourists the ultimate Alaskan "last frontier" experience. In between reeling in the giant, trophy-sized halibut and salmon, you'll have a chance to take in the sweeping vistas and see humpback whales, bald eagles, sea otters, seals and bears.

Kingfisher Charters and Lodge

Kingfisher Lodge offers comfortable accommodations overlooking gorgeous Sitka Sound. Every floor of their five lodge buildings contains guest rooms, private baths, kitchens, spacious living rooms and a deck to sit back and relax on after a long day of fishing. All meals are prepared by the on-site chef who works with fresh Alaskan ingredients to create delicious cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

At Kingfisher Charters, you're able to fish for both salmon and halibut on the same day. Most other charter services require you to fish for one or the other in a single day.

After a big day of fishing, your catch will be cleaned, cut into 1 lb. pieces, vacuum sealed and then flash frozen in one a walk-in blast freezer. When your trip is over, your fish will be packed into insulated, wet-lock boxes that will keep it frozen all the way to its destination.

Dove Island Lodge

Dove Island Lodge is located just a few minutes by boat from Sitka on a secluded, private island. Surrounded by the bountiful waters of Sitka Sound, this luxury resort is a high-end fishing lodge with all the comforts of home. The lodge employs two professionally trained gourmet chefs to create cuisine from the freshest Alaskan fish and products.

The lodge teams up with Sitka Sportfishing Charters to offer you a full range of fishing experiences. The fully equipped sportfishing boats will take you to hidden fishing hot spots, and a float plane is available for fly-out adventures--an experience not offered by many fishing resorts.

The float plane will take you to some of the most remote lake locations in Alaska where you'll be able to fish for freshwater fish, go fly-fishing or hunt for deer, moose, bear and sheep. Afterward, your catch will be processed with state-of-the-art equipment and shipped home for you to enjoy for the rest of the year.
