Nokomis, Florida is a tiny community, located between Venice and Sarasota. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in beauty. It's a well-known tourist and vacation destination that is easily accessible from the main thoroughfare of Tamiami Trail. Nokomis features secluded beach locations, but is also near restaurants and shopping. There are numerous natural attractions in this area, which attract a diverse array of visitors annually.

Nokomis Beach

Nokomis Beach is a well-known family vacation destination. Known as one of Florida's best beaches for shelling, visitors might also find shark's teeth along this shoreline. Caspersen and Venice Beaches are nearby. Caspersen is Florida's longest beach and Venice Beach features a coral reef just offshore. There is also a fishing jetty that allows for plenty of family fishing time.

Just Ducky

Just Ducky is a water boat tour that uses an old military vehicle, known as a duck. The tour begins on land and takes its passengers right down Tamiami Trail. The Captain drives the duck right into the Gulf of Mexico, where all the points of interest are seen and explained. The trip ends with a tour of Main Street in the historic district of Venice. Tourist are greeted by shop owners and pedestrians.

Calusa Lakes Golf Club

Calusa Lakes Golf Club is a major attraction in Nokomis. The course is set in an environmental community, among Florida's landscape and wildlife. Visitors are impressed with Calusa's impeccable upkeep. As of November 2009, the cost is also a big incentive at just $50 for a morning tee off and $40 for an afternoon/evening game.
