Surrounding Area Attractions in Jackson, Tennessee
The west-central Tennessee town of Jackson is a small city located near the larger metropolises of Nashville and Memphis. It's the best of both worlds---with a quaint downtown area full of shops and dining and plenty of amenities around the town, Jackson also is home to natural sites with trails, camping and parks. Visitors who are looking for even more hands-on activities and entertainment will find it in area attractions.

Casey Jones Village

Guests can spend almost all day in the village honoring a local railroad hero. Starting as only an old country store in 1965, it has now grown into a village with a museum, restaurant, train station and gift shops. The Brooks Shaw's Old Country Store features an ice cream and fudge shop, a gift shop and full-service restaurant, known for its famous cornbread. At the Casey Jones Home & Railroad Museum, guests can tour his home and an authentic 1890s train station. At the Casey Jones Train Store, visitors can purchase train-themed gifts or read in the Thomas the Train corner. A Casey Jones Mini Golf also is located in Jackson.

International Rock-a-Billy Hall of Fame Museum

Located near the musical towns of Nashville--the home of country music--and Memphis--the home of Elvis and Beale Street--it's only natural that a rockabilly museum would be found in Jackson. At the museum, guests can learn about early rockabilly and rock 'n' roll music by listening to the musicians and watching live videos, sorting through memorabilia, taking a line dance class and listening to a live band, depending on which day they visit.

Old Medina Winery

Since 2006, the Old Medina Winery has been offering wine and winery tours to residents and visitors of Jackson, after operating as Lauderdale Cellars since 1994 in Ripley. On the tour, guests will see where wines and marinades are made, where the grapes grow and are crushed, and sample or buy finished products. Located on 10 acres near Interstate 40, the Old Medina Winery entertains its guests with monthly music festivals, and on Fridays they also can participate in open mic night.
