Quebec Resorts

Quebec Resorts
The province of Quebec is an outdoor lover's paradise, with top-notch skiing, hiking, biking, kayaking--and some of the best whale-watching in the world. Outfitters, guides, restaurants and lodging are plentiful throughout the region. But if you're looking for on-site amenities and activities, you can't beat these Quebec resorts.

Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu

It's one of the top resorts in North America, a fairy-tale castle perched on a bluff overlooking the St. Lawrence River. The four-diamond resort in Charlevoix, Quebec, is close to the Le Massif and Mont Grand-Forks ski resorts, the Charlevoix World Biosphere Reserve and the Park of Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Riviere-Malbaie. Or, if you prefer, park the car and stick around; there's plenty to do at the resort. The property includes 27 holes of golf, a casino, two outdoor and one indoor pool, three restaurants, lobby bar, health and fitness club, full-service spa and a kid's activity center. Rooms are bright and spacious with sweeping views of the St. Lawrence River. Average standard room rates were about $140 to $160 a night as of November 2009.

Le Chateau Bonne Entente

If you're looking for peace and quiet in a country setting just outside of the Old City, consider this interesting resort in Quebec. Forget old school--this resort is modern, with light woods and contemporary art and furnishings. Rooms are sleek and minimalistic (think Bauhaus style) with lush linens and gorgeous bathrooms. In fact, you may not want to get out of these showers: They are huge, walk-in affairs with multi-shower heads and steam. There's an outdoor pool area, full-service spa, and a decent upscale restaurant on site. The center of the Old City is a 10-minute drive from the resort. The average room rate was about $210 as of November 2009.

Estrimont Suites & Spa

There's skiing, golfing and hiking in the area, and after a day of playing outdoors, you'll love to come back to this New-Age-y oasis. There are 91 roomy suites, all with kitchenettes, fireplaces and private balconies. But the real draws are the outdoor hot baths, Finnish sauna, indoor and outdoor pools, waterfalls and whirlpools. There's also a full-service spa on site and a health center. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about the area. This Quebec resort also offers a variety of tours. You could snag a suite for under $150 in November 2009.
