This family-run management company handles several properties in Bryson City, N.C., 10 miles from Cherokee. The beautiful A-frames, cottages, homes and cabins sleep from two to 12 people. Hiking, skiing and whitewater rafting abound in nearby parks and national forests, including the Great Smoky Mountains, Nantahala National Forest and Pisgah National Forest. Golf courses also are in the vicinity. Well-mannered and housebroken pets are allowed. Pets cannot be left unattended and must be crated if guests leave the premises. Management requests shedding pets remain off furniture and beds. A $50 non-refundable fee for up to two pets is required (as of 2009). Guests are responsible for any additional damage. Carolina Mountain Vacations

This rental agency rents one- to five-bedroom cabins in and around Cherokee and Bryson City. The area is an outdoor haven with waterfalls, hiking, fishing and rafting. Guests can also diversify and visit Gatlinburg, Oconaluftee Indian Village, Harrah's Casino and Cades Cove. This pet-friendly agency requires a signed pet agreement and non-refundable fee of $45 for the first pet plus $20 each additional pet up to three (as of 2009). Pets are not allowed on furniture or beds and must be crated when guests leave the cabin. The agency inspects the room prior to arrival and upon departure. Guests are responsible for any additional damage.

Cherokee/Great Smokies KOA

The Cherokee/Great Smokies KOA has more than 400 RV, tent and KOA Kabin sites and borders Raven Fork Creek and three tribal ponds that boast awesome fishing. Located close to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Blue Ridge Parkway, this KOA has indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, water slide, KOA's Jumping Pillow and island pet walk that will keep the family entertained as well as your best friend. One-room KOA Kabins sleeps four and the two-room sleeps six. Accommodations include beds and ceiling fans but no air conditioning or heat. Kamping Kottages have one bedroom, bathroom, shower, living room, kitchen, air conditioning, television and propane fireplace. Local attractions include Great Smoky Mountains Railway, whitewater rafting, Dollywood Amusement Park, horseback riding and hiking. Dogs of all sizes are allowed. No pet fees are charged. Dogs cannot be left unattended and must be leashed, and guests are expected to clean up after their pets. Good doggie behavior and manners are required.
