Famous Towers in Barcelona
Barcelona is located on the northeastern coast of Spain on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Full of exciting history and dotted with magnificent buildings from centuries ago, Barcelona has many famous towers every visitor must see. Gaze in wonder at the massive structure that was first started back in 1882, the Sagrada Familia, or the more modern bullet-shaped Torre Agbar. These towers, along with some others, attract millions of visitors every year to Barcelona.

La Sagrada Familia

Known as the Church of the Sacred Family or Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia, this church is a national and city landmark and one of the most famous towers in Barcelona. Located in the heart of the city, construction on this magnificent building began in 1882. Construction continues on its 12 towers today with a completion date scheduled for some time around 2026. The design follows the ideas set forth by the famous architect Antoni Gaudi, who oversaw the project from 1883 through 1926.

Casa Mila (La Pedrera)

La Pedrera was the final civil work created by Antoni Gaudi. Standing eight floors above the ground and built as a residence for the Mila family, this building features a furnished museum apartment and attracts over one million visitors a year. Construction took place from 1906 to 1912. The rooftop provides amazing views of the city and chimneys sculpted as medieval characters.

Torre Agbar (Agbar Tower)

This is a famous contemporary tower of Barcelona and one of the top attractions of the city. Seen from miles around in all directions, the glittering bullet-shaped Agbar Tower is lit up at night in a multitude of colors. Completed in 2004, it is a symbol of the modern society of the city and used for commercial purposes. It has 4, 400 windows, a panoramic elevator, is 33 stories tall and is surrounded by colorful containing facts pertaining to its inception.
