Famous Jamaica Vacation Spots

Famous Jamaica Vacation Spots
Jamaica opens its doors to more than two million visitors every year. Home to several famous vacation spots, the island is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Its tropical climate, white sandy beaches, clear water and stunning landscape make it attractive to both families and adventurers.

Montego Bay

Montego Bay, located in the northwest of Jamaica, is a famous vacation spot for families. Conveniently located near the airport, Montego Bay is home to stunning beaches and some of the grandest golf courses in all of Jamaica. Families can enjoy volleyball and boating, or spend time in the water snorkeling and scuba diving. Divers can explore several coral reefs and a sunken DC-3 aircraft while staying at one of Montego Bay's world-famous resorts or vacation homes.

Negril is most famous for its seven-mile stretch of sandy beaches, but this destination offers more than just sand. Located on the western tip of Jamaica, Negril is home to several resorts and the most popular cliff-jumping spot on the island. While a lure for some vacationers, Negril's nude beaches may make it unsuitable for families.

Ocho Rios

Ocho Rios is a very popular Jamaica vacation spot, boasting more than a million visitors every year. This spot is attractive to families, and offers golfing, horseback riding, biking, scuba diving, tennis, polo, volleyball, hiking and deep-sea fishing. Ocho Rios is home to Jamaica's most popular tourist attraction, Dunn's River Falls. The falls are more than 600 feet in length, and visitors can follow a guide up the falls to enjoy a number of shallow pools and breathtaking scenery along the way. Also located in Ocho Rios is Fern Gully, a three-mile long former riverbed full of ferns and hardwood trees.

Kingston, located on the eastern side of the island, is the capital of Jamaica. Kingston is home to massive pineapple plantations and the Croydon in the Mountains tour. Visitors can experience the culture and music of the island, spend time on day hikes, or relax and unwind in one of many resorts in Kingston.

Falmouth is the number one sport fishing vacation destination in all of Jamaica. Fishing enthusiasts can spend time deep-sea fishing or plan their trip to coincide with a major blue marlin tournament. When not fishing, Falmouth offers plenty of other activities and accommodations to meet every budget.
