How to Make Campfire Smores

How to Make Campfire SmoresCampfire s'mores are a camping staple that everyone should enjoy at least once in their lifetime. The only problem is that once you have sampled this heavenly treat, you will want it every time you see an outdoor fire. There are only three ingredients needed for a basic s'more. Master that and you can experiment with any variation you want.

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:
  • Graham crackers
  • Chocolate bar
  • Marshmallows
  • Stick with the bark removed or coat hanger
Step 1
Build a campfire if one is not already started. A fire is essential, although those desperate for a s'more have been known to toast the marshmallow over a heated stove burner. Once the fire is started, you are ready.
Step 2
Heat the end of the stick (with bark scraped off) in the fire for a few seconds. You can also use a metal coat hanger. Just untangle it and straighten it out. Heat one end of it in the fire as well. This is to kill any germs that might be on it, or if used before for s'mores, to burn off any marshmallow residue.
Step 3
Pierce the marshmallow with the stick or coat hanger.
Step 4
Place the marshmallow above the fire and rotate the stick in your hand. This will allow for even toasting of the marshmallow. Some like it a different way and stick the marshmallow in the fire and allow it to burn. They then remove it and blow out the fire on the marshmallow. This really depends on your taste. Once it is done to your liking, remove it from the fire.
Step 5
Place half a sheet of graham cracker down on a napkin and put a piece of chocolate bar on top. The chocolate bars that break into squares are best because they break evenly. Two or three pieces is generally enough.
Step 6
Put the marshmallow on top of the graham and chocolate, then place the other half of the cracker on top of the marshmallow. Now you have a s'more so eat and enjoy.
