How to Rig Berkley Gulp Bait

How to Rig Berkley Gulp Bait
Berkley Gulp baits are proven fish-catchers. These soft baits are easy to rig, and the impregnated scent not only attracts fish; it makes fish come back when they miss the hook on the first bite.

Rigging Gulp! Baits

Things You’ll Need:
  • Bucktail Jighead Hook Gulp!
  • Bucktail
  • Jighead
  • Hook
  • Gulp!
Step 1
As a trailer, Berkley Gulp baits increase the action of your bucktail while adding scent. Push the hook point into the bait and slide the bait around the bend of the hook. Put the hook through just enough Gulp so it covers the shank of the hook and lays straight.
Step 2
On a jighead, use the Gulp shad. These lures have plenty of built-in action. Slide the Gulp all the way up to the jighead. Rig the Gulp shad so it is straight along the hook shank.
Step 3
On a bare hook, rig the Gulp so it is straight. Rigged this way, you can slide your bait across the surface for false albacore.

Tips & Warnings

Gulp baits come in zipper bags. Keep the bag locked at all times to keep your Gulp baits fresh.
Remove all Gulp baits from your lures and hooks at the end of your fishing trip. Left on, they harden and are difficult to remove. Wear a pair of latex or nitrile gloves when handling Gulp baits to avoid getting the scent on your hands.
