Making a List of Supplies to Take Camping

Making a List of Supplies to Take CampingGetting organized is the key to any camping trip. By making a list of items you'll need in the woods, you'll reduce the chance you've forgotten something. Nothing is worse than getting to your campsite and realizing you've forgotten an important item. Making a list isn't hard, and you'll thank yourself for doing it once you get to camp.

Difficulty: Easy

Tips on Making a Supply List for Camping

Things You’ll Need:
  • Tent and Related Gear
  • Clothing
  • Bedding
  • Towels
  • Food and Utensils
  • First Aid Kit
  • Tarp
  • Flashlight
  • Personal Care Items
Step 1
Make a list of tent-related gear including tent, sleeping bags, air mattresses, poles and stakes. You can also include other gear such as camp chairs, a lantern and a camp stove.
Step 2
Consider the weather and your activities when packing clothes, bedding and towels. Bring something warm to wear and an extra blanket since it can be cool in the woods at night. If the weather will be warm, bring bathing suits and hiking attire, including shoes. You'll also want to throw in a poncho in case it rains.
Step 3
Plan your menu before you leave and write down everything you will need. Bring it from home or buy it on the way. When it comes to utensils, don't overdue it: A pot and a frying pan should be enough. Include paper plates, forks, knives, spoons and paper cups. You might also want a tablecloth.
Step 4
List the miscellaneous items you will need such as a first aid kit, insect spray, trash bags, flashlights, propane, charcoal, lighter fluid, batteries, tarp and firewood. Also consider bringing games, cards or a radio.
Step 5
List the personal care items you will need including shampoo, soap, hair brush, toothbrush and toothpaste. It's better to bring more than you need than not enough.
