How to Add a Hook to Your Fishing Line

How to Add a Hook to Your Fishing Line
The Trilene knot is one of the strongest and most dependable knots an angler can employ to attach hooks, swivels and fishing lures to his line. The Trilene knot will become second nature with practice and will enable the fisherman to have confidence that her line will not come undone when fish bite and put up a strong fight.

Step 1
Thread your fishing line through the eye of your hook and pull it through.
Step 2
Take the end of your fishing line that you just passed through the eye and then run it back through the eye the same way. You should have a visible loop formed by the line from going through the hook twice.
Step 3
Wrap the fishing line five times around the line entering the eye of the hook. Be careful to preserve the loop you created with the first two steps.
Step 4
Pass the loose end of your fishing line through the loop created by the eye of the hook in Step 2. This loop should exist between the hook and the coils you created.
Step 5
Pull the knot closed. Trim any line that protrudes from the knot with your nail clippers.
