How to Clean RV Cushion Covers

How to Clean RV Cushion Covers
Keeping the interior of your RV clean is important to maintaining not just a tidy appearance, but also to eradicating odors. If you think about it, your RV is like your car, only larger, more expensive and with many more surfaces and more potential sources of strange smells. Most RVs have furniture cushions that are covered with either vinyl or cloth, and cleaning these should already be a familiar chore.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Cloth Cushions

Things You’ll Need:
  • Rags
  • Spray bottle
  • Car upholstery cleaner for cloth or regular soap
  • Car upholstery cleaner for vinyl
  • Vinyl protectant agent
  • Vacuum
Step 1
Wipe any debris off the surface with your hands.
Step 2
Fill a spray bottle with warm water and apply it to the cloth covers. Dampen them thoroughly, but do not soak them.
Step 3
Spray the cloth covers with car-upholstery cleaner or regular soap. Let it sit for 3 or 4 minutes.
Step 4
Scrub the cloth covers with an old rag, putting extra energy into any stains.
Step 5
Vacuum the cloth covers to rinse, begin drying and remove any remaining dirt.

Vinyl Cushions

Step 1
Vacuum the cushions to remove any debris or dirt.
Step 2
Spray vinyl cleaner onto the cushion surfaces. Put more cleanser on stained areas. Let it sit for 3 or 4 minutes.
Step 3
Wipe down the surface of the cushions using a wet rag. Rub heavily stained areas to remove the extra dirt.
Step 4
Put a small amount of vinyl protectant agent on a fresh rag and apply to the cushion covers. Let it sit for 10 to 12 minutes.
Step 5
Wipe the protectant away with a clean rag.
