How to Pack for a Western Caribbean Cruise

How to Pack for a Western Caribbean Cruise
Cruises to the Western Caribbean go to the exotic tropical paradises of Belize, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, the Mexican Riviera, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Jamaica. Cruises offer many opportunities on the ship and on shore for the outdoor enthusiast. Make sure you have all your travel documents with you before boarding the ship. These include your passport, health insurance card and emergency contact list. If you have any specific medical conditions, take your medical records along with you.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

For Time on the Ship

Step 1
Pack formal attire for your cruise if you want to attend any of the formal dinners on board. Men should pack a suit and tie or tuxedo. Woman should bring a cocktail or evening dress. Wear sport shirts, slacks, long pants or sundresses for casual dinners. Smart casual dinner dress codes require pantsuits or dresses for women, and ties and jackets for men.
Step 2
Take two bathing suits so the wet one can dry while you wear the other one. Include a cover-up and flip-flops, tennis shoes or sandals for walking in the pool area. Don't forget sunscreen and moisturizer for skin care after swimming or lounging by the pool.
Step 3
Bring workout clothes, shorts, socks and T-shirts if you want to use the well-equipped fitness center.
Step 4
Pack any medications and your favorite toiletries. Carry along a travel guide and your favorite novel or non-fiction book.

For Shore Excursions

Step 1
Take cool, comfortable cotton clothing for the hot and humid weather in the Western Caribbean countries and islands. Put a hat and sunglasses in your bag to protect your head and eyes from the sun's damaging rays. Pack shoes with non-slip soles or hiking shoes if you're planning to hike in the rain forests of Costa Rica.
Step 2
Pack insect repellent to keep the bugs at bay while you visit the Mayan ruins at Quirigua National Park or kayak on the rivers of Guatemala.
Step 3
Bring hiking shoes if you want to explore the forest canopy in Honduras or hike in the breathtaking Blue Mountains of Jamaica.
Step 4
Put a waterproof camera, extra film, memory cards and batteries into your luggage so you can record the magnificent marine life while you scuba dive in Belize.
Step 5
Take comfortable walking shoes for shopping or sightseeing.
