The Great Miami River bisects this park from north to south and is popular with paddlers. A fun trip is to set up camp here, drive upriver, then float back to the park to spend the night. You can make much the same trip parallel to the water using the bikeway. It’s 7 miles of paved pathway open to hikers, skaters, and bicyclists. There are points of interest along its length. Start at the north end of the bikeway and you can explore what used to be Tadmor, once the county’s busiest community before being hit by hard times and then being wiped out by flood. Around the Taylorsville Dam at the bikeway’s midpoint stand remnants of Miami-Erie Canal.
