Palakkad Fort is the city's most famous landmark. Victoria College, founded in 1886, and the Jain Temple near Chunnamputhara are also popular tourist destinations.

Area Destinations

Malampuzha Garden, in the foothills of the Western Ghats, is a great day trip from Palakkad. The ancient temple of Thiruvalathoor is just six miles away. Nature lovers can visit the Parambikulam Wild Life Sanctuary.

Opportunities for hiking and trekking abound in the surrounding area. Hike around Pothundy Reservoir or ramble through villages on your way to timeworn temples. Take a three-hour trek to Dhoni village from Dhoni hills to reach a small waterfall.
