What Is Camera CIF?

What Is Camera CIF?
CIF stands for Compound Intermediate Format. This deals with the pixels of your camera. In layman's terms, it means how well you'll see pictures taken or video shot.

CIF resolution is standard at 352 --- 288. But there are upgrades to CIF. 4CIF is 704 --- 576 and 16CIF is 1408 --- 1152.

Compared to VGA

The pixilation of VGA (Video Graphics Array) is deeper than CIF at 640 x 480. This offers sharper pictures in higher definition.

Squared Pixels

Before the CIF resolution came about, much of pixel technology was square. CIF brought on one of the first hexagonal pixel systems.

CIF technology is still used as encoding and decoding information with television and video.

Division of Pixels

With more pixels comes more definition. As the technology of CIF increases, so will our ability to watch movies in almost life-like definition.
