What Is a Passport Size Photo?

What Is a Passport Size Photo?
There is no international standard for the size of passport photos. Each country has specific size requirements, so before sending your application, you need to make sure your photos are the desired size.

United States

The United States government requires passport photos to be 2 inches by 2 inches. Your face, from the bottom of your chin to the top of your head, must take up at least 1 inch of the length.

Canada

Canadian passports require a slightly different size, 2 inches in width and 2 3/4 inches in height.

Australia

The Australian government is not as picky when it comes to passport photo size. Your photo must be at least 35 mm by 45 mm. Do not crop the photo if it is slightly larger. The size of your head, from the bottom of your chin to the top of the skull, must be 32 mm to 36 mm.

United Kingdom

The United Kingdom requires passport photos to be 35 mm in width and 45 mm in height. The face must be 32 mm to 36 mm.

European Union

Photos for EU passports are the same size as they are for Australian and U.K. passports. The size of your head, from the bottom of your chin to the top of the skull, must be 32 mm to 36 mm.
