Anchorage boasts an extensive trail system that was named one of the best in the United States by Bicycling Magazine and the American Hiking Society.
Chugach State Park
Chugach State Park is the third-largest state park in the U.S., and you're liable to see eagles, moose, grizzly bears, wolves and lynx while there.
Portage Glacier is the most popular glacier in Alaska to visit and is 50 miles south of Anchorage. It includes the Begich, Boggs Visitor Center.
There are several river guides and outfitters in Anchorage that will help you go river rafting, kayaking, canoeing, motorboating, jet skiing or sailing.
There are seven golf courses in the Anchorage area. The golf season is May to September and, thanks to an abundance of daylight during the height of summer, you can even golf at midnight.
