The trail is located in western Prince Edward Island, just over 50 miles northwest of Summerside. Just a couple of miles south of North Cape, Tignish is the starting point for Prince Edward Island's section of the Trans- Canada Trail: the Confederation Trail. This ride follows the first 13.3 mils of the trail, which will one day span the entire island, along 217.5 miles of the railroad corridor abandoned in 1989. The ride can be enjoyed as a 26.7-mile out-and-back excursion, with a rest stop in Alberton; or, if you can arrange for transportation, as a 13.3-mile point-to-point between Tignish and Alberton. Either way, riders of all ability levels will enjoy the wide, smooth trail surface that features no demanding hill climbs or technical terrain. There are picnic tables and shelters along the length of the route.
