Nicolle Cove & Greek River Professional Review and Guide
"This guide contains information on paddling Nicolle Cove & Greek River. Nicolle Cove: As you paddle in the cove, you can cross the Murray River heading out to the Murray Islands or turn westward to paddle upriver along the shore of the Murray River. Time and energy will determine how long you wish to paddle. It is possible to paddle all the way to the Murray River wharf in the town of Murray River, where there is a public ramp for takeout or put-in. Paddling in and around Nicolle Cove at sunset is most inviting as the red sky reflects brilliantly upon the placid water. Greek River: Push off from the ramp and turn right, upriver, heading west. The river is really an estuary of Big Basin, an inlet of Murray Harbour. The river oxbows as you proceed inland. There are no houses in sight, so birds abound, especially great blue herons and even an occasional eagle. You need to watch for the tide change—the water level dropped significantly as we paddled upstream."
