The Southwest River is an imposing body of water, but do not be intimidated by the sheer length and breadth of this tributary to New London Bay. Paddling the river can be exciting enough, but when the offshoot coves and rivers are also explored, an entire vacation could be spent on this river alone. There are several easy launching locations, each accessing a part of the river. From the landing in New London Harbor next to the New London bridge, you can begin a westerly excursion.
