You will paddle parallel to the north shore of the barrier beach sand dunes, which are spectacular. They appear as camel humps or dinosaur fins on the horizon. The shore contains the best sandy beaches on PEI. The dunes can change radically in a very short period of time if there are severe storms. Some dunes may disappear overnight, while others can be built up as never before. If you paddle east, you will see the public beach at the national park. There are excellent facilities here and a full-service campground.
