French River, a snug harbor off New London Bay, is one of the most picturesque on the North Shore and rightfully deserves being one of the most photographed locations on PEI. The fishing sheds are painted in the bright colors that dot harbors throughout the Maritimes. Often the sheds are painted with leftover paint from the fishing boats. Two public ramps make launching convenient. The harbor affords gentle paddling, but watch out for large commercial fishing boats as they travel up and down the narrow channel early in the morning and later in the afternoon. Their wakes can be significant, especially because of the narrowness of the harbor.
