A public trail system leads from the shores of Lake Ontario at the north end of St. Catharines to Short Hills Provincial Park, a 688ha (1,700-acre) protected area on the Niagara Escarpment at the southwest end of the city. This hike makes a very pleasant urban walk beside the waterfront, along tree-lined streets and through city parks. This trail guide includes Lake Ontario Waterfront Trail, Merritt Trail, Green Ribbon Trail, and Participark Trail.
