Rock Dunder Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Hikes with grand views are always popular, and Rock Dunder has been attracting hikers to its summit for more than 100 years. In 2006, the Rideau Waterway Land Trust purchased this property from Scouts Canada and invited the Rideau Trail Association to develop its path system. Their volunteers have done an excellent job and created a loop that provides views of wetlands, beaver ponds, a variety of woodlands, rocky ridges, and the Rideau waterway. Take time to read the bronze plaque mounted at the trailhead."

Notice... This website is disseminating incorrect information. I am a volunteer with the owners of Rock Dunder -- the Rideau Waterway Land Trust. The property is not open year-round. It is CLOSED to the public from November 15 to May 15 -- and it has been for over a decade. On Good Friday of 2017, volunteers "manned the entrance" for the day and turned 600 hikers away. Furthermore, commencing in 2017, when the property is open (dawn to dusk, May 15 to Nov 15), users will require either a day pass or a season pass. Details on the passes will be finalized at the April 27th board meeting, and will be available on the RWLT website prior to May 15th opening day.

NOTE FROM (April 20, 2017):
As new owners we are currently working with book publishers to make sure we have updated trail content. We also rely on user comments to alert us to any changes. Thank you for your update.
