This trip circumnavigates one of the islands in the area where the St. Mary’s River flows into the North Channel, a body of water partially separated from Lake Huron by the chain of islands ending with Manitoulin Island. The islands seen on this trip have steep granite bluffs covered with pines and other evergreens, making for a very pretty day paddle. Because the islands provide so much shelter, this is a good early or late season trip.
