High Head Professional Review and Guide
"For me, one of the great places to hike in Nova Scotia in the fall has to be the ski hill at Wentworth. The woods throughout the valley are almost all deciduous, the view from the hill is spectacular, and the climate is ideal for such a challenging walk: the temperatures are cool and there are no mosquitoes to annoy you on your trek. This walk takes you to one of the best lookoffs in the province, High Head, and it can only be reached by foot. On a clear day the view can be quite astonishing. Wentworth Valley is spread out beneath you. The brightly-painted houses peek through the trees like out-of-place plants. Trains, using the main line halfway up the hillside across the valley, can be heard approaching for miles, and look like little toys as they pass through. Take special care to pack out your garbage and leave any equipment left by the staff undisturbed."
