It is always exciting when new wilderness trails are developed. By their nature, these are paths that head away from human habitation and are developed to minimalist standards, and for the first-time walker, there is always a frisson of discovery and adventure. When I hiked this route on the afternoon of May 13, 2011, I was surprised to discover that the bridge over Juniper Brook had posts but no railing.
