I first walked through the proposed Thomas Raddall Park in August 1994, when it was uncertain whether it might ever open because of budget concerns. However, a community association formed to operate the campground with assistance from the Department of Natural Resources, and in 1997 this 678 ha (1,675 ac) site opened.
